BSOD with ALCXWDM.SYS

I have been getting the BSOD after running games such as Deus Ex, Counterpoint etc. The file that it complains about is ALCXWDM.SYS. I have been to other forums and there are various opinions as to the cause. The most common are VIA chipset drivers and Avance AC'79 drivers. Any ideas??

I have solved this problem by upgrading to the latest version of the Avance Logic AC '97 codec driver. I had tried everything else and this was a last ditch attempt to rectify the problem. Of course, I could have solved it by buying a separate sound card na disabling the on-board sound chips.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
