Broadband in Britain

Yep, looks like they will offer it. BUT, cable is not widely available. :p

It would be impressive news, except for the fact that it's going to be at the end of 2006 (Over a year away, and DSL is already at 8mb right now), NTL are the absolute worst service provider in the country, and cable covers very little of the UK.

Still though, very little progress is still progress.

sorry i lived in london most of my life, didn't know cable was so scare throughout the rest of the country. bah humbug :)

the cable in my area stops approximately 100ft away from my doorstep. Apparently there isnt enough demand for it to be upgraded, which in my opinion is wrong because at least 80% of the people in my area want it.

What they're saying is they can't be bothered to upgrade it and can't see themselves making enough money to make it worthwhile!

That's all it comes down to. Money.

Once BT realised that, they at least allowed people to register interest in having their exchange enabled for DSL. Then a few years on, they have enough money to simply enable them all, regardless of interest.

NTL/Telewest should at least do the same in the way of surveying areas.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
