1 of the known issues - in installing Win Xp’s Service Pack 1 - is the

CORE SYSTEM FILE ( KERNEL ) …. I.e NTOSKRNL.EXE boot file

Microsoft recommends Un Installing software which modify the above file
naming specifically “ BootXP “

I’ve UnInstalled BootXP ( Control Panel > Add/Remove ) BUT !!!!

1. Boot menu - installed by BootXP - is still there - UNCHANGED

2 . BootXP’s “ boot screen “ is still there & not Win Xp’s original
Boot Screen

How can I restore the required setting for a successful installation of
Win Xp’s SP1 ????

You need to edit your boot.ini located (hidden) in the root...

Code:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

amic mentioned that the boot screen is still not the original xp one. How do you get NTOSKRNL.EXE off the xp cd ready to replace the hacked one?

Doofus hit the nail right on the head !!!!!
can somebody propose a viable solution apart from editing the EXISTING boot. ini file - which is in any case was MODIFIED - UPON INSTALLATION - BY BootXP
