bootup tweak

i once found a tweak to speed up my bootup time from cold, it was a tweak which you had to do in the registry and it worked a treat, does anyone know where i may find this tweak or a similar one?

BootVis is one. Download from the front page. On the left\free xp add ons\bootup tuner.

Go to Regedit.... localmachine/system/control/currentcontrolset/sessionmanager/memorymanager/prefetch.../change enbale prefetcher from 3 to 5... Works like a charm if you have 512+ ram and at least a p3 800

5 doesn't have any effect. The prefetch registry key goes only up to 3.

In Bootvis, i will go to "Optimize now", it will reboot my computer, then start up a couple seconds later saying "service timed out" and close. Any help please?

Absolutely correct. 5 is a non-value - it effectively disables Prefetch.
