I have windows XP pro on an K7S5A (Elitegroup) mobo. When I restarted my comp. it gave me a blue screen right after the windows logo.... it said:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen,
restart the computer. If this screen appears again, follow
these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation
or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration,
and check fpr any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check
for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x00000023 (0x000E0100, 0xF89C9474, 0xF89C9174, 0x805810A7)

Well I tried safe mode and everything.... but I can't seem to run the CHKDSK /F in DOS Mode.... can anyone help?

Have you installed anything recently before that happened? one of the error codes you listed is caused by a program called pc-magic encrypted folders according to the windows developer articles. As for the others no luck finding them.

Also as for not being able to chkdsk...there was a windows update patch that was added recently to fix that problem, did you have that downloaded? And have you tried running the recovery console from the cd and trying to do it from there?

Havent installed anything...... didnt download the patch either... and I don't have the CD.. sorry to say but I have a pirated copy :( Can anyone else help me'?.... I hope I don't have to reformatt....

Did you do a fresh install or upgrade?
It is recommended that you do a fresh install to remove any conflicts that may occur between apps and other stuff. Try searching in the M$ website on the problem. IE: search for 0x00000023. I hope this helps...:)

Without a CD there isn't much you can do. pirated copy or not ya should atleast keep a cd of the pirated copy to boot from :p Your gonna need a cd to get into the xp recovery console sorry man

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
