What's the best way to maintain and change the processes that are started on booting? Right now I have a gazillion processes running (according to Coolmon), which, annoyingly, does not start at boot. I don't know what half of these processes do, but they are using approx 131mb of 256 mb RAM ie Quite a lot!

u wan't 2 use bootvis it's suposed 2 utilize ur bootin process so it hapen's quicker. but 4 some reason it slowed my boot down:confused:

I'm not so worryed about boot speed but just so I can Tweak and maintain the processes started on booting.

not sure if bootvis let's u tweak as such....it more does it all 4 u. there are program's that let u tweak thing's like the boot process but i've never used them.

any 1 else?

unless u mean the thing's that start up? i just finished postin 2 sum 1 here

Go to Start\Run\msconfig
Then 'startup'. See what's going on in there. Untick what you don't want.

Henyman-

Bootvis made my system take longer to boot too. What's up with that???

soz i copy/paste the wrong link:(

try this

i'm not sure why it made my boot longer dreamliner:confused: it now takes it bout 10/20 seconds LONGER

what if I want to ADD a program on start up?

list of services can be found at http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

and to add something to startup, just put a shortcut to it in your start up folder loacated at:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

*"All Users" can be replaced by your login name if you only want it to start when you logon

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
