Boot Failure

My friend is running Win XP Pro. Her PC failed to startup. There's nothing on the screen not even the 'checking RAM and CD-ROM'. What could be the cause of this problem ?

Could be pretty much anything hardware. The XP installation is probably still ok.

I think so but is there anything I can do ? Which hardware has the highest percentage at fault ?

Well percentage won't help much. You should start by disconnecting everything that's not entierly vital. This means leave only mobo, memory, cpu, graphics and internal speaker plugged in. If there's still nothing remove the graphics. If still nothing (no beeps) then it's most likely your mobo.

the way this post is going, Take it to a computer shop and let someone who knows what there doing have a look.

I found it. It's the internal modem. Thanks for all the replies.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
