blank screen?

Every now and then when im on my pc, the screen just turns black. I turn the monitor off and on again but its still black. The only thing i can do i turn pc off then on again. Any idea what could be causing this. Here is my hijack this log to help.

Sounds more like a hardware problem than a software problem. How old is the monitor?

Didn't you just get your computer fixed? Didn't the guys tell you that all they did was blow the dust out of your HSF?

I would take it back to them and tell them to fix it again. I think they didn't do a thorough job last time.

Or if your tired of having it in the shop.

When the screen goes black is the light on the front of the monitor On, flashing, or Off?
-On could be a dead monitor or soemthing in the PC,
-Off is probably a dead monitor,
-Flashing is cable or something in the PC.
Make sure the monitor power cord is plugged in securely.

When the screen goes black press num lock, cap lock and scroll lock. If the lights go off and on the CPU is still executing code so it is ok.

With power off, pull out and reseat the video card.

When the screen is black (or working), jiggle the video cable going to the monitor at both ends. Don't jiggle the PC end too much, you can unseat the video card and fry it.

With the screen black, your system set to auto play music cd's, and with no jumper cable from the cd drive to the sound card or MB - pop a music cd in and see if it plays. Rules out problems in MB, sound card, RAM and CPU.

Obviously, try another monitor or run the TV out from the vid card to the TV if can't borrow a monitor. To rule out the monitor.

Pretty much all that is left is the video card.
