Has anybody used Blackbox for Windows? If so what do u think of it?

heh... basically a clone of the blackbox wm for x. Interesting, though it was never one of my favorite shells for x. I wouldn't mind seeing a clone of windowmaker for windows. :)

its not to bad gotta mess around wit it more.

Explorer all the way for me.

lol...u can still use all the same stuff in xp but it just makes it *nix or w/e

I don't think that's what he was referring to... It's the simple fact that explorer is what's included in windows, it's what was MEANT to be used as the shell. Its features are integral to the functionality of windows and frankly, most of us have gotten used to it and the way it works. Like NR, I see no real reason to use an alternate shell. For the most part, it offers all the features I need and expect from a shell. While BB4Win might be a novel idea, I don't see any compelling reasons to ditch explorer as my shell.

ahhh...i gotcha i was thinkin of windows explorer :(. I dont use it really i just thought it was pretty cool but for one its hard to do themes and find wallpaper and i am way to use to windows.

BB4Win replaces Windows Explorer, but not Internet Explorer... Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) is the default shell for Windows... Internet Exploder (what M$ likes to call a browser) is iexplore.exe.

yeah i know...what r u talkin about?

I was for some reason think of windows explorer not the shell windows explorer. lol...dont ask

Yes, that's what I meant.
I've tried *lots* of alternate shells in the past. None of them felt like they fit in very well. Explorer just fits right in like a piece in a puzzle. =)

Now it's a whole different story in *nix, which I use solely as a learning environment rather than a Windows replacement. In that case, it's always fun to try new window managers or desktop environments all the time.

Yeah i agree with u Net. I dont mind tryin differnt managers and desktop enviroments. I just remember about some program that was on tech tv a few months ago that was like 3d or somethin. I cant explain it really i wish i knew what it was.

This would be it then?

NR, what window manager do you prefer in *nix? KDE and Gnone seem to be the most familiar-looking... and probably the easiest to use, but I've always been mildly partial to Windowmaker.

I've tried most of the common ones...KDE, Gnome (w/ Metacity), WM, Fluxbox, IceWM, XFCE4 etc. I stuck to WindowMaker for a long time once, but I usually just tend to come back to Gnome and Metacity in the end, for some reason. =P

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
