Hi can anyone help me I'm after a newer bios for my Sony notebook VAIO PCG-GRS515M .
At the moment it has bios version RO232BO/RK232BO thanks for any info.:)

have you got the model number of the motherboard as its too dangerous for me to find it just by sony vaio as you may have a different motherboard version than what the update is made for and that would kill your notebook

XP Abuser thanks for get back to me but no idea what the MOBO number is all I know is that this is a new unit from Sony built for UK. One thing I've read else where is that Sony set there bios form ram low on most of their new units why? My ram is running @200Mhz and not 266Mhz as it should be.Also found out that a bios upgrade will fix my issue but I can't locate a bios for my unit I managed to get into a Sony ftp site with bios But since I don't know which one will fix my problem I'm at stuck.:(
All setting for memory are setting via Sony in there bios and not on the mobo.
Below a report of my memory

Performance Tips
Notice 5008 : To change benchmarks, click Options.
Notice 5004 : Synthetic benchmark. May not tally with 'real-life' performance.
Notice 5006 : Only compare the results with ones obtained using the same version!
Notice 5406 : System bandwidth appears memory limited. Attempt to use higher-performance memory.
Tip 2 : Double-click tip or press Enter while a tip is selected for more information about the tip.

Mary J Thank you so much.:)

it looks like your memory is slower than the motherboards standard bandwidth it could be your memory or maybe a setting in your bios

Yeap its the setting in bios thats way I'm on the hunt for a new bios or one I can use on this note book. Read that Sony fix the setting in the bios and you can'y change these setting.
Check out my ram which is made by Micron and it does run @266.MT8VDDT3264HDG-265B3 (old code MT8VDDT3264HDG-265B1)
Thanks once again for your time.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
