I agree, it certainly feels that way! 😉
I found these and although admittedly they're 2005 figures it's certainly not the what I expected.

I was surprised. I never expected Germany or France to have a higher intake over UK 😱

However it must be stipulated that these figures reflect 'legal' immigration only. Not the illegal asylum seeker figures 🙄
