Best Laptop

I just bought a Toshiba, the Satellite 5105-S607... the only thing I don't like about it is its short battery, usually less than 2 hours if I'm working on it. But other than that, its really really nice.

my girlfriend just bought the toshiba satelite... its a good machine... don't know about battery life... probably IS short since it has so many features (hence power usage higher) but she usually plugs it in at work and home... its light, very very thin and has a HUGE screen... seriously the biggest I have seen...

sony is good also but I liked the toshiba display better...

both are good laptops though...

couple of things I should mention :)

my gf has an nvidia GO vidcard on her rig... 16 meg... had some issues with wolfenstein.. i.e. it would NOT load anything up in opengl mode due to some probs... all fixed now... the system you have does not say that it has the nvidiaGO gpu integrated in it so you probably won't have that problem..

also... that little lcd display on the front of the toshiba is HELLA kewl... it is a blue backlit display and it says welcome... goodbye... enter password blah blah blah and there are multimedia controls on the front... I just fell in love with the system... :)

there are sony's with the lcd and stuff but I don't think the one you are looking at getting is it...

:D

I think I am going with the Toshiba. It looks nice, but i can not find any online reviews. Any one know anyone that did a review?

Here's what I can tell you about both of them.

The Toshiba is nice. The only thing that I can say wrong about it is the battery life. Most users who have it complain about that one factor. From viewing it personally, the device is rather large and feels sort of cheap. But that's an opinion.

The Sony that you mentioned is VERY VERY cheap. Trust me, go to Best Buy or Fry's and try it out for yourself. It's made of a cheap plastic and is not that good. If I were choosing between the two, I would choose the Toshiba.

My favorite notebook happens to be listed in my signature. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask me.

I actually didn't go for either of the Toshiba or Sony laptops, instead I went for the Dell Inspirion 8100. It has the power of a desktop, I dont even take my beast to lans anymore, just my laptop.

spend most of my time on my labtop (even when i am at home)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
