Hey everyone,
I was wondering if you guys had any input on this. We took my old desktop and mashed it together with 1gb (4 256mb sticks of 333 Ram) a hdd, and a DVD-ROM drive. at the heart of the computer is an AMD Athlon X2 4200 and an Nvidia 7900 GT KO card. We tried playing an 11gb HD file of Inception on it and it started to get a bit choppy during some of the high motion parts. We were wondering what we can do to make it play better. We are using VLC to play them right now, I was wondering if there is a better decoder out there, since VLC kinda sucks anyways. Or if maybe our sad attempt at ram is the problem. We are running Windows 7 starter edition (We tried XP, and Vista but with the ram they were slow) now with starter edition its fast enough but it gets hiccups during full hd video play back.
Any suggestions on programs or anything else?
Thanks.

You could try MPC-Home Cinema. That is what I use with windows and it works good.

As for VLC, I never had a problem with the video and such, it is the sound that I don't like. They need to work on that part ..

Thanks guys! I will try KMPlayer, I did find MPC-Home Classic and tried it out and it does work, so we'll see.

The problem with VLC is that its just not simple anymore. I have no idea why it builds a frontside cache or whatever it has to do everytime you play a new file but its like. I'm fine with waiting for it to do that but it has to work flawlessly after that, which for reasons of sound which crackles sometimes or the fact that half the time you cant get in or out of fullscreen (seems to lag) its just not perfect. I understand its free, but I feel like they made it worse recently...
And this is on all our computers that it does the laggy in and out of fullscreen... But again thanks for the suggestions!

Something I am finding with VLC is that it seems to run better on a Mac. The sound quality is the same as with windows, but resource wise it is better on the Mac.

For all the news and to get the game, I'd suggest gamersloot.net, and really the Blizz team did a great job this expansion seems quite exciting :)
thank you!

Good spam there .

MPC-HC and Halli splitter is all you need for playback on Windows :)

Or get CCCP codec pack if you want the above pre-configured :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
