Hi. My hdisk is about to quit working. I had purchased a new Hdisk. How do you backup the window registration so that I don't have to re-register again since for so many times that I had reformatted my hdisk it has reached its setup limit. I had to call customer support to give me that reg key access to activate it. Thanks.

Here is the full story on activation and how to avoid it:

The good stuff is about 2/3 of the way down the page. There is a file with the encypted key in it you want to back up.

If there is only a minor change (see the article for details) then activation is not required. Do not pull the old hardware then replace it one peice at a time. That will trigger the activation.

When installing a new HD you want to back up the volume ID and then copy it to the new HD.

Everything you need to know is in the article including links to usefull tools.

thanks. i will check out the links. i appreciate your post.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
