Backing up primary partition

I'm having big problems and want to reinstall XP using my PC's recovery disk.

Ideally, if I find for whatever reason that this doesn't help (ie perhaps the fault is with the hardware) I'd like to go back to what I have now otherwise I'll have to reinstall all my apps.

I currently have two physical partitions. The primary one is filled with a single logical partition (C: drive). The second physical partition contains a logical D: partition but also a large as-yet-unformatted area.

Is there some way I can make a copy of my C: partition in this unused area of the disk, such that I can basically 'undo' the reformat/reinstall that I want to attempt?

Thanks
Vik

Drive Image like mentioned above or Norton Ghost. I have used Ghost for years and it works great.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
