backing up 7+gb. files

I would appreciate some ideas how best to backup 7+ and growing gigabytes of .mp3 files that are on my laptops hd. It is the only computer I have so transferring them to a desktop is not an option. If this hd, or the computer itself, is lost I have a lot of music files that would simply not be replacable.

To copy them to CD-R, at 70mb. per disc, would be next to impossible.

What are my options? Is there a high-gigabyte EXTERNAL hd that I could shove them to via a USB port?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

TIA, Todd

Yes, you are correct: 700mb. not 70mb. What was I thinking of?

So, for 7gb. would that mean around 100 +\- cds?

Thanks for the reply.

Well, for exactly 7 GB of data, you could fit it all on eleven 700 MB CDs or you could fit it all on twelve 650 MB CDs. Had to break out the ol' calculator... nothing else to do...

what i did was bought an external usb hard drive casing for like 60 bucks and then got a 20 gig hard drive to stick in the casing...makes for nice portable backup =)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
