avi - works in winamp3, but not wmp, or the playa...

what's going on... most avi movies will play in wmp9b but some will only play in either the playa or winamp3... wmp9b pops up a dailog telling me the file cannot be found even though it plays in winamp3... the playa tells me the same for some avi...

what's up with that?
