I wonder if I uninstalled my avg, reinstalled a new avg downloaded off the site....I wonder if the files would be smaller?

I don't think so. The update is always about 3mb large. that is because (I think) you donwload the complete antivirus database each time, including all the updates. so if you miss an update, no problem, it will be in the next update as well. I guess once version 7 of the program comes out, the update file will be smaller. I don't mind downloading the file - better safe than sorry!

The latest program file is: 5414400 Bytes (with update 435 only)
update file 437: 3141572 Bytes
