Auto Log In Problem

I recently replaced my hard drive and re-installed WinXP Pro on my new one. Now whenever I boot up, it automatically logs into my acount rather than going to the welcome screen and requesting a password. Any help on how to fix this?

Som things to note that may or may not be useful in figuring this one out. I was getting NTLDR missing error when I tried to load XP straight from the boot disk, so to get around this, I loaded Win2000 Pro first, then upgraded to XP.

Also, I do have other user accounts set up on XP as well as having Welcome Screen and Fast Switching enabled on log on/log off options. It works if I want to switch users or log off, but if I do a complete cold or warm reboot, that is when it automatically logs me in.

This one sounds like it would be so easy to fix, but it is driving me crazy. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I think this is what you are looking for.
control panel->user accounts->change the way users log on or off->untick "use the welcome screen".

Thanks, but that's not it (tried it). When I do that, all it does is change the appearance (makes it look like an NT account where you have to type in the user name in a dialog box). But again, it only does it when I switch users or log off. If I do a warm or cold reboot, it still logs into my account automatically.

Woo Hoo...4 hours and multiple searches/forums/etc, I figured this one out myself. Here it is for folks that may run into this problem themselves (or are just curious). I knew it couldn't be that hard...

1. Click Start, click Run, and type control userpasswords2.
2. Check Users must enter a username and password to use this computer check box.
3. Click OK and you're all done.

Thank you very much for posting that. A lot of times someone will find an answer to their own question and not bother posting it.

Attention folks: This is the way to do it.
You never know when someone else has the same problem. :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
