Audio in movies lagging

when i use wmp and open some .mpg's, the sound will start to lag in 5 seconds, but other .mpgs work fine. anyone know which codec this might be?
 
Only time i have seen the audio out of sync with the video, it was caused by encoding it wrong, not sure if a codec is going to help you out.
