Audio Error!....No Sound, what do i do?

I lost my audio, and everytime i try to play an audio file, i get this error "MMSYSTEM A Device error has been reached that is out of range for your system" then I get "an audio card is not installed" which i know i have an audio card, my sound was working great earlier but not now. I know i have a sound card. I have went into Safe Mode and un-installed my sound cards then re-started the computer but it didn't find the drivers, what shud i do, I did a application recovery with the recovery discs, reformatted, did a system restore, unplugged everything-restarted. Still nothing, does anyone know what is wrong?

Also check to see if your sound card is physically set in the pci slot correctly - it may have come loose. Also if this dosen't work try moving it to a differnt slot.
