Well rather than say the hell with it and take it back to the store Sazar has suggested I start a new thread and ask for help with a problem I having. (fear sets in)

Here we go:

This is a freah install of WinXP Pro. All Updates for M$.
ATI Radeon 9600 XT
AGP 8X
BIOS Version 008.015
128 megs of ram
Catalyst 4.7

Mobo Gigabyte GA-7VT600 1394
CPU AMD MOBILE 2500+/266 Athlon XP
RAM DDRAM 2x256MB PC3200

Seems I am getting really crappy fps in UT2k4... I have tried several settings in UT2k4 /taking down all the textures /adding some /disabling others in various ways. I have seen no change. I am seeing a frame rate of 12fps in UT2k4 on Onslaught maps ... not much if at all better on other maps.

Suggestions??

Other info is that I did have an ATI Radeon 9000 in this machine prior but I did uninstall it.

Running UT2004 with 9500 PRO, Cat 4.5 drivers, NF2 MB, XP2800 Barton. Smooth as silk. I have bumped most of the image quality settings up from the defaults and AA and AF is turned ON at low levels.

It's probably not your vid card I have friends running UT2004 on GE3 TI200 card and FX5200 PCI card. Looks and plays well. Check to see if the card reads as a 9600 XT (not an SE). Check in device mangler or Futuremark. Not sure what else might be able to ID the card.

Can you borrow another stick of RAM to add? I'm running 768mB and it made a big difference on BF1942. Kill all your background processes also to free up RAM.

And run the usual check for spyware, etc.

my pc should be able to handle this game with no problems... this is just weird. I think something is wrong with the card itself. But when in doubt it becomes a hardware problem... :D

you have I presume installed the via 4-in-1 drivers?

ahh I only installed the drivers and software that came with the mobo... I think they were included

well try out the latest ones and see if that helps...

I would consider re-installing the whole gig and re-installing all drivers... if its still a no-go I spose if you paid for a 9600XT check for an rma...

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
