atapi.sys crashing blue screen of death

I keep getting the atapi.sys blue screen of death. and windows keep freezing at random times. people told me it is cause I have daemon tools installed. and I also have alcohol 120 installed. but the alcohol virtual drive isn't activated. they told me the only way to get around this problem is to uninstall these programs. I don't want to do that. is there any way around this? for I wont get them errors and freezes?
