Asynchronous socket error???

I get this error everytime I boot up my computer now, rigth when the desktop loads, in an error window:

Asynchronous socket error 10038

and then another error window:

Windows socket error: No such host is known (11001), on API 'Async Lookup'

what is going on here? do i have a virus or something?

found the problem.

It was a trojan, the problem disappeared after I found and deleted the trojan.
