Would it be worth it?

Would it be worth it to remove the Heatsink from the CPU and replace the original goop with Artic Silver goop?

All my hardware is three weeks old, and the vendor of the 2500+ said that the original thermal paste is more than acceptable for my application (Slight overclock for Gaming, 200FSB x 10).

Present temps are (with 200FSB x 10 right now)

System: 31C/87F
CPU: 51C/123F

I do not know what acceptable/maximum temps are for this CPU.

Thanks in advance

Heeter

IMO I'd rather save some cash and use the standard goop rather than all this "high-performance" stuff. It might knock off a few degrees, but I'd rather use that money to save up for a new video card or something. That's my 2 cents. :D

CPU temp under 65C is acceptable. Don't get too worried if it's around that temp, but be cautious with that CPU load.
For an average user (not overclocked) the temp is usually between 35-50C. It all depends where your box is located in the house.

I think it's worth it. The cost is not significant and the learning eXPerience is rewarding.

Arctic Silver costs about $5 - £3 :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
