Anyone ever use Debian?

Hey, has anyone ever used Debian,

Wondering if it worthwhile installing as a Server OS, or should I just stick with my original Ubuntu 7.10Server plan. Still on the fence as to what to deploy as a Linux os for my Web/FTP/Email/File server that comes as full featured as possible.

I need Apache/MySQL/PHP/Perl as well as a solid email server.

I am downloading Debian4 (released August 2007), it is a 4 dvd package. I am pretty sure that everything that I need comes with this package, and then some.

I'd recommend Centos for a general server and Debian/Ubuntu for specialist tasks.

Then you can follow the guides at http://www.securecentos.com to make it a touch more secure

Debian. All you need is the bootonly CD, after that you can just download it from the apt-get repositories.

Not a big fan of RPM based package management. Debian is extremely nice for a web server, as is FreeBSD. Those are my recommendations!

I am looking at a "business card" iso image of debian on their site, is that it that your talking about X?

CentOS has LAMP builtin too.........

LAMP = Linux Apache MySQL PHP.

So technically EVERY distribution has it "builtin". I don't see how you can even call it builtin.

FreeBSD 7.0 is in code freeze so you could spring for that too

They are the latest released Seagates 16MB cache IDE's 7200.10ATA. There is going to be 4 x 250gig in RAID0+1 config.
