Any benefits to have a NIC plus onboard mobo NIC?

I have an EPOX 8RDA+ with onboard NIC.

I also have my old Linkysys 10/100 NIC in one of the PCI slots.

Just wondering if I can use this other extra NIC for anything cool or is it redundant and better off removed?

Thanks

well... you save a PCi slot right ?

:D

you can setup networks better if you are going to be server in a network using a hub...

you could get a long (25+ ft) ethernet cord and plug one end into the onboard nic and the other end into the pci nic... then proceed to chuckle to yourself, pause, look around and realize no one's there to share the irony, and then disconect both ends and pretend the whole thing never happened.

ROTF! :D

You could use the box a Linux Distro (whatever your flavor mine is Slackware) and make it a Network Bridge(Not that you'd need one).

Oh got another one... If your a real cheapskate... then don't buy a Hub/Switch for a BB connection hook one up to the ADSL/Cable modem and use a crossover for a connection to another machine.

(A look on the Bright Side) If your mobo NIC dies you've got a spare!

Really though it's not worth much to a Home user!
Though Taurus' idea has some merrit ;)

:D ROTFL :D

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
