i know av is not a must for linux/unix but i am running a mail server, and i would like to catch any virus infected email before i open it on the windows pc (although there is av on there)

Clamav. Free. In ports tree. And, depending on what mail software you have, will scan incoming messages when they hit the queue.

though so - i have seen it there - just have never used it so was unsure 🙂 - thanks

bitdefender has a free version too. If you use postfix with amavisd you can tun mails by both.

The commercial vendors have bsd/linux engines too but they cost a fortune. If you use Clamav/Bitdefender on your mailserver and kaspersky/nod32 on your desktop you should be ok 🙂

Hey Carpo, for all the help you give me, I can return the favor by telling you that is what I used when I had FreeBSD. Especially convenient, that it integrates into the email server that I had going. (Like X posted)

I still use it today on my email server with WindowsServer tower.
