Please slow down when you are trying to explain your problem. Please be more complete with your details. I had to read your post four times and I'm still not sure if I understand the problem.

Print Screen takes a snapshot of the entire viewing area.
ALT + Print Screen takes a snapshot of the active window.

This functionality is built into the OS and should work without issue.

I know you said it worked before, but the only thing that makes sense is your ALT key may not be functioning properly.

Try doing CTRL + ALT + DEL and see if you get the normal response.

since rebuild
alt + print does NOT put an image into clipboard
(ctl +_ alt + del_ still ok)

an dIuse that feature alot
now I am stuck taking whole screen and cropping
hmmm
perhaps video drivers????

Are your video drivers all up-to-date?

well
yes
have new x1800 xl
and removed ati drivers and used:
omega (supposed to have more options and better for gaming)
guess I will live with it this way
maybe get some screen shot prgm
at least then I can have more than 1 image in clipboard
thought maybe I did some option wrong in XP

thanks all

I could be wrong, but what do video drivers have to do with it?

ALT + Print Scrn is a windows command, which is built into the OS and doesn't utilize the Video Driver.

Alternatively, I can vouch for SnagIt, product is amazing :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
