I have been using AOL Instant Messenger for a long time and I just got my new computer up, and now my AIM doesn't work anymore. It has been used before on this new computer though, so thats why I thought it was wierd that it all of a sudden just stopped working.... Anyway it just tells me that "AIM has encountered a problem and needs to close" everytime I try to bring up an Instant Message or receive one. The only time the error will occur is when a IM window trys to come up. This is the first time this error has happend, and I tried re-downloading and re-installed it, but its still not working. Does anyone know what this problem could be?

Before you reinstalled it, did you uninstall the old version completely?
Check to make sure that you:
1) Run the uninstaller from Add/Remove Programs
2) Delete the whole AIM folder and all its contents
3) Remove any registry entries related to America Online under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE

If you missed one of the above, it's possible that the reinstalled version is still using parts of the old version, thus causing the error to propagate.

If netsyrders soultions diesnt sowkr try an older version fo AIM. just go to google or w.e and stype odler version of AIM. Hope one of your solutons helps...sorry for the bad typing but u should understand it. Also u could try Trillian which is all the most popular im services combined into one probgram.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
