I have the Sound Blaster Audigy and the Creative Labs Inspire 5.1 surround sound speakers. My problem is sometimes switching from game to music the mixer is muted (mutes the front left and right rear) I have to manually unmute them everytime!

Is there another way?

How else should I test out these speakers they are fairly new to me so I'm not sure what to expect. While playing games like Diablo 2 I only hear sound in 4:5 speakers (4 out of 5; no center channel) I am pretty sure I have properly connected them.

Please everyone post your advice.

Locate the Creative folder under Program Files. Locate and execute speakersetup.exe. Advise the system you have surround sound speakers, not 4, and that should do it after a restart.

There is no file called "speakersetup.exe" although I know I'm running a 5.1 speaker configuration. Atleast thats what the creative program let me choose when I installed it all.

Where else can I find and set this up?

open up control panel, then open up audioHQ and double click the speaker icon, make sure it is set to 5.1 :)

My apologies CiRe... the file is called speakerpreset.exe... I have it in the Program Files\Creative\Program folder.

As for AudioHQ, as stated in the post above, you can set it to surround sound speakers, but you will be doing that everytime you start your computer. Running speakerpreset.exe will generate the registry entries and voila! CiRe, let me know if this works...

Speakerpreset isn't located anywhere on my pc- So umm- now what?

Are you sure you have SoundBlaster Live 3.0!?

If you're unable to locate this file, I would
suggest you re-install the entire software.

No, I do not own the Sound Blaster card- I own the Sound Blaster Audigy so maybe that file isn't included

I have another problem- switching from like music or gaming it mutes the wave/mp3 everytime and I have to open the Surround Mixer to un-mute it. Isn't there a way to save a setting for every sound scheme? If there was it would make this whole new xperience alot better :D

Please tell me what you think/know if you own a Sound Blaster!

Sorry for the delay, I own a SoundBlaster Live! card...
You would think the next generation of soundcard from
Creative would be better, but? Not saying there
isn't a solution, but someone else (preferably an Audigy owner)
should give you some advice...

Anyone?

ciRe, did you also check the CD itself for speakerpreset.exe?

Yes, I just searched the entire CD for speakerpreset & speaker; nothing was found.

Okay well I eventually figured things out on my own- to some extent. There is an icon in the systray called, "Creative-Taskbar" where you can set your favorite pre-sets of sound schemes.

No Effects
EAX Games - Normal Effects
EAX Games - Lite Effects
Music - Normalizer

Those are my 4 presets I use. I have noticed in games if you don't use the EAX sound schemes sound effects are not heard at all if the EAX - Normal/Lite sound scheme is not selected.

This also fixes the problem of constantly having to un-mute the mp3/wave volume bar in the surround mixer.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
