Advanced Power Management problem

I have a situation with a Compaq Presario desktop. I have enabbled APM but when the computer goes to shut down, it gets the screen that says Windows is shutting down.... and then the computer locks up, but I can hear the hard drive stop spinning, like the computer is actually shutting down, but instead I have to hold the power button for 10 seconds before it actually shuts down. I tried clearing the paging file at shutdown, but that didn't do it. Does anyone have any idea whats going on and how to fix it? Thanks much!

This Worked for me, go to device manager-click view-show hidden devices- you will then see NT APM/LEGACY SUPPORT-Right click choose enable it. Let me know if this works for you

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(
