Hello,

Here is an interesting addition to the XP Tweak located at http://www.ntfs.org/articles.php?action=show&id=19#1

Now the Tweak of course consist of the same tweak posted for the "Allow more than 2 simultaneous downloads in IE 6" tweak but with a few additions that can improve system performance when running Windows XP Home & Professional from 20% to 60% depending on your system through our tests by allowing multi-bandwidth allowance within user profiles which has suprised us because it was an experimental idea that we used with the currently posted tweak but in addition keeping system bandwidth more stable.

As Noted:

Current Tweak
-------------------
1. Start Registry Editor

2. Locate the following key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/InternetSettings

3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value , and then add the following registry values:

"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=Dword:0000000a
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=Dword:0000000a

4. Quit Registry Editor.
Reboot

Current Tweak with Additions
-------------------------------------

1. Start Registry Editor

2. Locate the following key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/InternetSettings

3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value , and then add the following registry values:

"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=Dword:ffffffff
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=Dword:ffffffff
"MaxConnectionsPer2_0Server"=Dword:ffffffff
"MaxConnectionsPer3_0Server"=Dword:ffffffff
"MaxConnectionsPer4_0Server"=Dword:ffffffff
"MaxConnectionsPer5_0Server"=Dword:ffffffff
"MaxConnectionsPer6_0Server"=Dword:ffffffff
"MaxConnectionsPer7_0Server"=Dword:ffffffff
"MaxConnectionsPer8_0Server"=Dword:ffffffff
"MaxConnectionsPer9_0Server"=Dword:ffffffff

4. Quit Registry Editor.
Reboot

This has been tested on an AMD System and has been running with no issues whatsoever for exactly 1 calender year now and has proven to be an effective addition to ntfs.org's XP Tweak.

Enjoy the new addition to the tweak and e-mail us if you have any questions.

Whoah...I should try this out. And that's a long list of poll choices! :D

If anyone has anymore questions about editing registery keys let me know. Note: Always Backup your registry before making changes.

Thanks.

welll

well knowing it took me time to type all of these in. i knew that it would annoy everyone else to type them in, so here ive made a reg file so everyone can use it. saves u all the time of typing all that info:D

themafia, could you save the file in zip format? I'd bet it'd be alot easier for some people to access your file. Just my two cents.

In the original tweak "MaxConnectionsPerServer" increases number of connections to a server using HTTP 1.1 specifications , "MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server" increases number of connections to a server using HTTP 1.0 specifications.

What is "MaxConnectionsPer2_0Server" and so on supposed to do?

Actually, I didn't realize this was the IE tweak. Since I don't use IE, I don't think it's going to make a difference to me. :)

Hey,

To really see the effect of the tweak is this.....

Start running some of your applications and you will notice that they run much smoother and faster than normal.

The Tweak does this in a way that i am not still sure of except the fact that it opens up and utilizes "System Access Bandwidth" found in user profiles with a user wrap or interface if you will.

As for the explanation for the MaxConnectionsPer2_0Server and so on does this......

Some how it acts as a Tangible sequence of additional Server inputs and outputs or I/O's spanning if you will. Now this is just what i could come up with from my knowledge of windows other than connection utilization.

I hope this could help some of you out and i appreciate you guys putting the tweak in downloadable .reg formats.

Lemme know what you think of my additions via e-mail.

You are absolutely sure, this thread wasn't initially intended to be posted in the "jokes" forum?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
