Added Memory

I just added 265meg of ram to max out the mb at 512meg. The BIOS sees the addition and memory self test is good, but in System properties/General it only shows 200meg. Is this just a graphics thing or is there a problem with XP seeing the new memory??

unless you have a video card thats onboard @ 288mb i doubt its video 😛

weird problem...
Bios defintly reports it correctly?
try switching the two 256's over

The bios checks out fine. I will swap the sticks and see if that makes any difference.

Found the answer!

After searching and a little thinking/luck, I found the reason XP would not see all 512 meg of ram. In control panel/performance and maintenance/system/advanced/startup and recovery there was a line under default operating system including "maxmem=200". Just edited it to 512 and all is well now. Hope this might help others.
