Okay I am on a win2k setup, I have 2 programs in my add/remove and when I go to remove it says they are not there! which is cool, becuase I had uninstalled them already. Now my problem is that they will not go away from the add/remove programs. The programs are DivX5.0 and WMP9. So my question is.....Is there a place in windows that I can go to tell it that those programs are no longer on my system? Maybe a hidden file that tells the system to show those files in add/remove? I have already tried to install the program(s) and remove, but it still does not work. Thank you for any help!!

also I know that you can not remove wmp9 but I know divx should not stay there. wierd.

The list is stored in the registry at
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Uninstall
You can delete subkeys and the related program will no longer show up in add/remove.

I am going to give a try asap, but one question are those programs still going to work even if the trouble program is NOT installed? it is just listed in my Add/Remove Programs list.

those programs are replacments for the windows ad&reove function. They can remove software but also take out registe setings of failed uninstallers

YES worked. Thank you so much. I think I am still going to give them programs a try still just because I don't want to go through that again. =0 ) thank you again!!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
