Access Point vs. Wireless Router

Greetings everyone,

I've got a quick question...obviously...I've got a small wired home network and am wanting to go to a wireless type of deal. I'm using a cable modem and a Linksys 4 port router. I just want to know which option would be best, cheaper, and faster to initialize...Adding an access point and wireless cards to my laptops or purchasing a wireless router to replace my current router and purchasing wireless cards...

I'm looking at Netgear for the Access Point and Buffalo Airstation for the router. I'm not married to either of these two products so if you have others I need to look at, please let me know. I'm mostly concerned with cost, performance, and range.

Any pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Blyx

I'd suggest getting an AP since you allready have a router.

Also (or so I've heard) it's good to have the same brand of wireless products, so if you have Netgear cards you should have a Netgear AP/wireless router.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
