"Access denied" trying to start service

I got this message in the Event viewer, System:

The service System Restore Service was interrupted with the following error: Access denied

The System Restore Service does not start.

Somebody has an idea what causes this error?

Guessing here. Are you trying to do a system restore & get that error message??

No, I don't do anything.

The operating system tries to start the service, fails, and then generates the message.

When the operating system tries to generate a system restore point, it fails and generates this message in the Event viewer:
The system could not initiate a System restore.

The result is that System restore does not work at any time.

See if this does anything. As system restore is not working turn it off. (my computer/properties/system restore - turn off) Reboot. Go to system restore again & turn it on. At that stage it should be working again & create a restore point. Let us know what happens.

The problem i solved, and I found the solution myself.

The reason was that the local SYSTEM account did not have write privilegies to the folder "System Volume Information". After changing that, System Restore Service works OK.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
