i have 4 discs i want to use as riad - i select fd in cfdisk and make the raid according to the raid howto and all seems ok - it doesnt seem to be building the arry though, if my memory serves me from last time as soon as i made and started the arry it said it was building the arry
steps i took
1. fdisked all drives to fd
2. mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=0 --raid-devices=4 /dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdac1 /dev/sdd1
3. added ARRAY /dev/md0 level=raid0 num-devices=4 UUID=1a082597:b93e0ebd:c8a5f07f:699e61c4 - to /etc/mdadm.conf
4. formated the arry and rebooted.
it starts when the pc starts (i can see that from looking when it boots and from logs)
out put of mdadm -D /dev/md0 - shows
/dev/md0:

i notice it shows clean so is it a case that its built it transparently ? and i have nothing to worry about
