98 - 98se

Right then. My PC at work runs windows 98 first release. We have a spare copy of windows 98se (spare means that the pc it ran on has been pu out of action). The problem is we want to run Internet Cnnnection Sharing and first win98 sdoesnt allow this. In a nutshell is it possible to upgrade win98 first edition to second edition using a FULL copy and not an upgrade.

Iddy biddy problem. When I use the full disc I get a message saying something along the line of 'can not update win98 using full package, use an upgrade disc'. Any ideas round it??

If i remember correctly you cannot upgrade 98 to 98se with the full disk, you'd need an upgrade

You can upgrade but you must do it from a dos prompt. Insert the full ver into your cd rom and boot from this disk and then do the upgrade....
