Ok strange question, so i am picking up a 50" projection tv tonight, used/second hand...

... this is my question, do you think it'll fit into my Honda element, if i took all the seats out?

it looks something like this i assume.

Thanks

Not really sure, I would doubt it myself.

May be better off renting a UHAUL or something similar for around $20 bucks.

I would however, recommend you measure before getting there. Don't want to go there with a tentative option.

she is just down the road from me, so not a big deal if it doesn't, then i'll go the uhaul route.

I'd suggest borrrowing someone's pickup truck - but that coul dbe tough in England!

I can say "No" with almost 100% certainty. You need to keep it upright, so the corners will probably not make it in, assuming the back opening is rounded on the sides. Best borrow a pickup if you've got a friend with one.

On second thought, I don't know if it's necessary to keep that type of TV upright. I'd recommend it anyway, though, since the projection lenses can get moved and then they won't be calibrated.

Ok i finally got the TV, it was free by the way, anyway (i knew this before i got it), the blue bulb is out of alignment and the left side of the picture is concaved, as in the picture is rounded on the left.

Anyone know if i can fix this or how much it would cost to get someone to fix it?

You can get someone to fix it. I used to work at a place that repaired these TVs -- it's probably not something you can do yourself, unless you figure out how to get into the maintenance menus. Not sure what you'd be charged. Maybe up to $75/hour?

I would imagine it would be fairly expensive given the type of television.

well i figured it was the convergence board, i'm having someone come out and fix it this saturday, hopefully wont be to much, but budgeted $400, not bad to get a 50" tv for $400 i reckon.

Well since it was free I imagine it would be worth investing $200 or so into it to make it work correctly.

I posted this before I read your post, lancer. How did you find out it was the board?

i went on the internet and searched for the reasons for a concave picture and the blue being off, and that was what most of the online pro's said it was.

Makes sense as the convergence option on the TV did not work correctly as i could not get the blue to line up with the green and red.

p.s. i feel like i know what i'm talking about for once haha.

Oh, ok. I figured that the convergence menu would take care of it. You can't always access that menu on some TV's without knowing the codes -- or did you find out the codes online? ;)

no it was open to be used straight from the menu.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
