32-bit Data Transfer

Hi guys,

I notice that when I enter BIOS, there is this option whether to enable or disable 32-bit Data Transfer for the hard disk drive. What is this actually and should it or should it not be enabled?

the 32 bit in the first place is a mis-nomer...

it is actually 2 16-bit reads being combined into a single 32-bit chunk for transfer to put it simply...

anyways... it should be left on unless you are running winNT 4.0 or some such w/o service pack 2...

apparently there were some data corruption problems that were rectified by turning it off...

assuming that you are using win XP I would say leave it on
