2D performance?

A friend of mine wants to buy a new computer, which he would primarily use for working with Photoshop, usually with large files (over 400MB) and a few open at the same time. What video card would be best in terms of 2D picture quality and performance; a Leadtek Geforce 4 Ti4200 8x or an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro?

if you want the BEST 2d and are not going to play games @ ultra high frame rates... I highly recommend getting a matrox video card.... probably the parhelia if you can... it is better than anything else in terms of 2d Image Quality.. even though it is slower in 3d...

otherwise the 2d performance of pretty much all current video cards are the same... nvidia/ati/matrox are all highly recommended...

if you are using large files it is better to get a good cpu/memory/hard drive setup than a video card since any of the above companies products will help... more memory or dx9 compatability will not make 2d any better... that is primarily 3d related :)

but the parhelia has the best 2d :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
