24X10X40 Cd writer ..

My A-Open 24X10X40 Cd writer does not allow me to view burned cds. It can play a store bought music disk and a store bought game/program. Anything burned, it does not recognize.

I have never been able to burn with it or read burned cds. It works fine as a ROM drive.

'My Computer' recognizes it as a cd-writer

'device manager' recognizes it as a writer, with the correct speeds.

any thoughts?

Is it the software you're using? Have you tried other burning programs like Nero? Check over your settings before the burn too, like multisession burning, closing the cd, and the like.

It doesn't actually even recognize when i put a blank cd in the drive. I dont think it's "burning software" at this point.

Does anyone else have this drive? are you just using the native drivers from XP?

If it still doesn't work get a new drive, I've seen them for less than $20 with rebates.
