Resolution will be max at 1680 x 1050

Just like mine

Ok thanks! If anyone out there plays a lot of games like I do, I just wanted to ask if usually when a game has a widescreen on/off option does that cover the 16:10 and 16:9 stuff, or do you get some wonky looking gameplay?

Wonkiness will vary by game. Some handle widescreen some don't. It may also be affected by your video card.

Got a specific game in mind?

Yeah I think me and my clan will be playing a lot of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter which just came out today so when I go pick it up I'll make sure to check for that widescreen. On the demo it had widescreen on/off no mention of 16:10 or 16:9 like in Call of Duty 2 where you can pick which one you want.

Games with widescreen are rare, unfortunately. And most of them have a crap variaton.

The BEST widescreen game is Half-Life 2 and it's derivatives. That game has a 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10 mode and the resolutions that come with.

Others might stretch a little.

There are some tools out there that will allow you to change the res (it'll be a ghetto hack version) OR to change the .cfg file of the game to allow for a non-standard resolution.

It's just one of the things you have to do coz video game makers apparently are too stupid to imagine that people MIGHT consider using something other than 4:3 ratio's.

I mean mainstream widescreen displays have only been out a coupla years, give it another decade.

Heck this forum itself won't allow for posting of widescreen screen caps :smoker: I guess the game makers are waiting for EP and X-istence to fix it lol.

good to know, i waas actually considering a widescreen - up until now...

{slightly off topicish, but not really -- how do games fit into tri view displays? ive seen people get it out onto all screens without stretching before-is this a game option for some games?

You have to hack it some, like I said, otherwise it will not work.

I don't mind doing that and I play many titles.

Oblivion actually supports widescreen gaming at multiple resolutions, so thats a good thing.

It seems some of the next gen titles are getting into it, I think its a good investment as more and more developers realize what gear they clients are using. I stick by this purchase unless something changes my mind between now and when I get enough $$$ to buy it!

Hey, for what it's worth, I haven't regretted my display purchase yet :)
