how do i remove winME completly from my computer including all registry entries, the selection @ startup, the windows folder, basically everything related 2 winME
????????

Remove Win9x/Me & Keep Win XP/2000/NT.
This describes how to alter the Boot Loader to remove Win 9x from a dual-boot installation with Win XP/2000/NT, and leave Win XP/2000/NT as the only bootable OS.

Uninstall Windows 9x from a Dual-Boot with XP/2000/NT:
1. Uninstall all Win9x software if both OSs are on same drive.
2. Boot to Win XP/2000/NT, and make XP/2K/NT the Default boot.
3. Backup C:\Boot.ini (it's a Read-only file). Open C:\Boot.ini in Notepad.
4. Delete the line(s) that refer to Win9x such as C:\="Microsoft Windows 98".
Make sure Default= points to your Win XP/2000/NT installation, not to Win9x.
5. Set timeout=0 so the system boots directly into Win XP/2000/NT (no boot menu).
6. Save & Exit. Restore the Boot.ini attributes (+r +h +s; read Notes 2 below).
You'll finish with something like this:
[Boot Loader]
timeout=0
Default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WIN....
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows . . . "
Note: there's no C:\="Microsoft Windows 9x",
and Default points to XP/2K/NT (=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WIN...).
7. Now, delete the Win9x directory, and Program Files if not shared.
8. Optionally, delete the bootfiles for Win9x: C:\Io.sys and Msdos.sys (Hidden files), plus Command.com and, if present, Autoexec.bat and Config.sys.
• Do not Format the C: drive as that would destroy the XP/2K/NT system bootfiles that reside on C: and your computer would not boot. • Also, do not use System Properties or Msconfig to disable the Win9x as that Win9x option would still appear in the boot menu and could cause boot errors.

Or, cleanest way would be to format the drive and install W2k.

is that possible? i thought you couldnt run these installs from dos?

Just boot to your Win2k cd. You can delete partitions, format the drive and install the OS from there. Nothing else you need.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
