Hi all,
I am setting up a small standalone server 2003/2008 tower. It will mainly be used to push files back and forth to about 9 workstations. The app is sitting on each workstation to edit the files. The average size of each is about 121MB. This means that there is a lot of network slowdowns and collapses.
I purchased a new PCI-Express Intel dual port gig network card for this server. My question is: what would be the best setup to take advantage of this network card and to streamline the file transfer process through this file server. Which MS server version to use is also up in the air right now. I have never setup load balancing or truncating ports.
The Server setup:
AMD Opteron Quad Core
8 GIGS DDR3 1600 RAM
2 x terabyte HD's in RAID 1
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Heeter
