128 Bit Encryption with WinXP….

Hi All

I have tried and tried to get my wireless access pcmcia card to use 128Bit Encryption.

When I go to the settings it only has options for 104Bit, someone mentioned there was a fix for this in XP?
When I put the card in a 2000 machine I get the option to enter the 128Bit key straight away no probs. I have looked through the XP Help but cant seem to find anything.

Ive heard this mentioned before. Two quotes that are relevant:

What Windows XP calls "40-bit" and
"104-bit" really are "64-bit" and "128-bit" respectively.

40 bit = 64bit encryption and
104 bit= 128 bit encryption.
Different companies use the terms interchangeably unfortunately.

For 40/64 WEP use 10 characters.
For 104/128 WEP use 26 characters.

If your using a linksys card you may find it helpful to remove the linksys software and let windows xp install the driver. This has been mentioned here

Thanks for the speedy reply, I will give it a go.:D
