Hey homesick, I got this card (platinum) and I have to say... GET IT! The sound quality is great, but disregarding that for a moment, not having your cpu have to run all the sound calculations will speed up your game immenseely.

Umm, you are making sure to un-install previous drivers before installing the new ones, right? This will affect ATI cards alot and tend to cause problems. Also, two other things; try looking on the ATI site for the 'Cat' un-installer, which should remove all previous versions of Catalyst...
