    New LCD viewing troubles

Are you using the DVI (white) or the VGA (blue) connector? If your using the VGA connector try press Auto-adjust a few times to calibrate the monitor, or if that doesnt work, make sure ur fresh rate is either 60 or 75hz. If your using DVI, also try make sure you are @ 60 or 75hz.

    Uninstalled NIS 2005 and...

Yeh, i think its when it installs all those monitoring add-ons to IE and whatnot, that when you uninstall NIS it takes the whole thing with it. Anyway, im thinking of doing a repair install, but i got one question, does it keep the registry entries for all the programs i have installed, or does...

    Uninstalled NIS 2005 and...

So I uninstall NIS 2005 after my trial period expires (ive decided just to get Antivirus). I wanted to uninstall NIS so that ill have a clean base to install NAV. Everything seemed to go fine, and I rebooted my computer. First thing that happens is Security Centre pops up saying NIS is not...

    Widescreen or Square monitor?

all games worth playing these days support widescreen, and if not, they can be hacked (i had this good website with all widescreen hacks for every game, but ive lost the link). there is no reason to use 4:3 mode - everything works just fine in widescreen mode.

    Hitachi 2.5" drive weird noises

Well, i finally got fed up and RMA'd the drive, Hitachi said they'll replace it even though they claim its a noise resulting from the power saving mechanisms of the drive.

    Widescreen or Square monitor?

The 2001FP (the 1600x1200) is very marginally cheaper than the 2005FP (1680x1050, widescreen). The 2005 is also the newer model, with better specs than the 2001. And it goes without saying that widescreen monitors are better for movies, simply because you lose less to the horizontal black...

    OpenOffice.org internet image pasting

i thought about that, the problem is, say i want to print out certain slabs of info, i chuck it into a Writer doc (ive never had much luck with printing in IE/Firefox), and they often have like 5-10pics in the one section so it becomes a bit cumbersome.

    OpenOffice.org internet image pasting

It seems like a relatively simple problem to solve but i haven't been able to find the settings for it. Whenever i paste some from a web page to a Writer document, it copies the text, but leaves images as placeholders, and every time i load the document it has to reload the images from the net...

I need a Gaming 64 bit Laptop! Either turion or Athlon64

while its not 32bit, the Dell Inspiron 9300/XPS2 is simply the best laptop out there for gaming which still has a certain degree of mobility attached to it. If you can afford it, the XPS2 has a Geforce 6800 Ultra GO 256mb (just as good as your desktop's 6800GT), a Pentium M 2.13ghz (= 3.4ghz...

    Hitachi 2.5" drive weird noises

Oops, forgot about this thread :) Well i ran all the tools on the hitachi site, using all the possible combinations of settings, and it didn't help my problem (though the drive acoustics did reduce seek noise). I guess ill just live with it - its not that bad and the drive itself has no errors...

    Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 x64 sata driver

Have you tried the gigabyte website? all the drivers are there, when you download them you just have to look through to find the Windows x64 setup ones (like the oemsetup.ini files n stuff) http://tw.giga-byte.com/Motherboard/Support/Driver/Driver_GA-K8NF-9.htm If you download the Nforce 4...

    Hitachi 2.5" drive weird noises

no, its definately coming from the hard disk, but thanks for the tip anyway. It only happened after i put the new drive in, and perhaps squeaks the wrong way to describe it. its more like the harddisk's head gets stuck for a while, or its as if its going over bad sectors (of which it doesnt have...

    Hitachi 2.5" drive weird noises

Ive have a really strange problem with my brand new 40GB 7200rpm notebook hard disk in my laptop. When the hdd isn't doing anything (like browsing internet or similar) every few minutes it will make this weird high pitched "squeak" sound that will last anywhere between 1-5 seconds. It sounds...

    $0.44 p&p???

I was amazed when i received my 180-day trial of Windows XP x64, to discover the enclosed invoice amounting to 44 US cents (~60c aus)!? Surely it costs Microsoft more money to process this than it receives back?
