Thanks everybody it was indeed the PSU. well i think it was. I thought it was the problem anyway since i hadn't upgraded it from my old pIII system.
Reseated the HSF and a few other tweaks problem only occured with the new HDD cooler installed so that must have been pushing the PSU to it's...

I got my hands on a Realtek RTL8029 5 port "PCI" hub and now i want to see if i can get a similar product.

Biggest mistake I ever made (Besides getting very drunk and waking up with a dress on) was buying a FX5200 the performace is crap ok I'm on a real tight budget but for an extra £20 I could have got a FX5600 card with a lot better performance (think it was a Soltek card)
You can buy convertors coz the controller is just a plain old USB one.

I've seen a few places online that stock them but coz the drivers aren't official I've never tried them out but what i've read about them is good.

What i use and I find it really good is powerstrip so I can use ALT + CTRL and the + & - keys to raise or lower the gamma settings.
